Types of Extension Leads

The majority of people have extension leads in their businesses and homes, utilizing 4-way bar adapters to accommodate a greater number of electrical equipment that may be plugged into a wall outlet.

32A 5 Pin 415V SY Extension Lead x 20m – Three Phase SY Extensions

Extension leads and adapters work to power and control electrical appliances and devices, but there is a fine line between the two: both must be utilized correctly. There are many mistakes that can be made when using either of these devices, so it is important to learn how to use them safely and efficiently.

The length/type and voltage of cables vary depending on whether it will be used for indoor or outdoor purposes and the conditions they will be used; indoor extension cords may only need to reach around 10 metres in length at most; while those used outdoors should be as long as 25 metres to ensure the lead will reach the job of those who may eventually utilize it. This article will focus on the differences between 110v, 240v, and 3-phase 415v extension leads.

110V Extension leads

In a nutshell, 110v extension leads are an excellent choice for any high-volume work area such as a building site. In the event of a cable break or damage, these extension cords are less prone to inflict injuries because of the lower voltage than regular 240V. Also, due to health and safety concerns, almost every construction site requires 110V transformers.

Our 16A extension leads use 1.5mm x 3 Core 3183AG Yellow Arctic Flex, and the 32A uses 4.0mm x 3 Core 3183AG Yellow Arctic Flex. The cable is high quality and able to be used in a variety of environments. PAT Testing is also available on all of our leads.

240V Extension leads

240 V Extension leads are a fantastic alternative for a wide range of uses, including Caravan Parks / Caravan Hookups, MIG and TIG welders, power tools, and more.

The Arctic Flex wire used in these extension leads helps them endure daily usage and strain while still being usable in extreme temperatures. Our 16A extension leads use 1.5mm x 3 Core 3183AG Blue Arctic Flex, and the 32A uses 4.0mm x 3 Core 3183AG Blue Arctic Flex.

3 phase 415v Extension leads

Three Phase SY Extension Leads – We utilize SY Cable to construct these Extension leads. inside one our our armoured extension lead The steel braid beneath the sheath protects the cores inside from harm in the SY Cable. Designed for use with three-phase applications such as high-power welders, industrial ovens, conveyor systems, and other similar devices.

3 phase extension lead Specification:

  • Temperature Rating: Conductor operating temperature -30°C to +60°C (85°C max)
  • Minimum Bending Radius: Up to 25mm²: 6 x overall diameter, above 25mm²: 8 x overall diameter
  • 4 Core: Green/Yellow | Brown | Black | Grey
  • 5 Core: Green/Yellow | Blue | Brown | Black | Grey
